Is this already our best ever transfer window?
Are you more optimistic now than you imagined you would / could ever be prior to a season?

Thoughts?

I wonder what Pelle has in store for Hakšabanović ?

Will this guy get some play time?

We seem to have got everything we aimed for, so all should be good ahead, and we also seem to have a plan behind our signings. Will the merde frappe le ventilateur if we lose the first 3 though?

Points target, with that squad, for the firs 3 games?

I'll say 4.

Agreed, especially the first bit. It's why I don't buy into the Everton comparison from last year when they spent big.

They just bought a mish mash of players without any sort of clear strategy. They also missed out on their number one target (Giroud). We landed ours and I'm hoping the other key difference between us and them is that were not having to offload our best player to fund it.

I'm over the moon with this window, i do however feel it will take a while to gel . Can u imagine this site and supporters in general if we start poorly ?

The key thing for me this summer is there seems to be a clear plan with the signings. They're not just names, they've been identified with a style and system in mind.

More than anything, we are going to attack teams and try to play good football. As Hammers we should all fucking rejoice.

Also, I'm hoping we've got a decent fucking keeper for the first time in what feels like forever.

People said this last year on here about us.

And so did Everton fans about their acqusitions...

All about whether MP can get a tune out of the team

"Everton spent GBP150m last year "

Who did they actually buy for that? Walcott was a free no?

Koeman's win ratio was actually better than The Oaf's.

The fee that was bandied about for Burke was 1.5m, with anywhere from 20-50% sell on clause, depending on who you read.

Re: Is this already our best ever transfer window?
My affiliation to any am is/was based on building that bond with a team of regular faces. I think back to the days when players tried to 'run off' broken legs and you'd see the same starting line-ups week after week because players weren't pretending to have injuries or hissy fits over not being allowed ketchup for lunch. Most of the team would be locally born and so the bond was confirmed.

Today it is far harder to build any allegiance with 'the team'; Noble and our academy players are exceptions to the transient rule, and I'll give Adrian and a free pass too.

So, what we do is support a name. Contracts are now all but valueless from a loyalty perspective, and there is no moral difference between the club and the player. 'Pea' says he might leave after 1 year, GSB piss Fonte off after less than 9 months, blah blah blah.

Our last representation of our history as a 'local' club disappeared when we sold UP and moved to the shithole, when our transformation to a shell of a football club was complete. We stopped being a warm, cuddly football club at full time when the score was West Ham 3 Manchester United 2.

Is this our best transfer window? Dunno; in a results world it is too early to say. Everton spent GBP150m last year and look where it got them. I think the measure of a decent window will be based on our league position and a decent cup run. The reward of EL football will allow supporters to enjoy trips overseas and to build memories of what it is like to support a successful football club, because after all, if there are no supporters there will be no games. Sky won't be interested in broadcasting games with empty stadia.

Experinced to many false dawns supporting West Ham as far back as our sensational signing Useless Eustace so willl pass judgement 15-20 games in to the season if the pre season signings are up to scratch.

It'll be interesting to find out how much we got for Burke. That might be an indication as to whether our incomings are glossing over our inability to get a decent return on our outgoings.

Re: Is this already our best ever transfer window?
probably best to get used to the fact that loyalty went out of the window in football many, many years ago.

Re: Is this already our best ever transfer window?
Call me old-fashioned but it's not West Ham any more. Not just the stadium, but if at the start of season the club fields a mostly new set of players, not to mention a different manager, it just feels like some random selection of expensive players have been asked to put on West Ham shirts and pretend they have some loyalty.

Re: Is this already our best ever transfer window?
I agree with Trevor

Byram, Oxford, Kouyate, Snodgrass, Cullen, Quina, Hughill and Antonio will be the most likely casualties.

Antonio we could get 10m + for. The rest lucky to get more that 15m for the lot.

Re: Is this already our best ever transfer window?
Lets hope this new DOF can sell players like Levy can then

Antonio should be closer to £25-30M IMO. Looking at some of the players being banded around for £15-20M...Mitrovic, Rondon, Ings etc... I rate Antonio higher then them and believe he has stronger contract
